FileMaker Pro is a cross-platform relational database application from FileMaker Inc., a subsidiary of Apple Inc. It can be used on Macs and PC computers as well as for iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad.  FileMaker is used to create customized databases that work on a single computer, multiple computers or handheld devices or some combination of all of these.

For small businesses, Filemaker Pro can be used to create databases that are a means of tracking important business information such as customer names and addresses, order information, inventory data and correspondence among other things.  The data in a Filemaker database can be securely shared with other users over a local area network or over the Internet to anywhere on Earth. Data can be published over the Web with just a few clicks.  The reporting capabilities of Filemaker databases make it easy to generate and email reports in a variety of formats including PDF and Excel.  FileMaker Pro normally works with fields in a record and is concerned with organizing data into layouts. Multiple tables can be included into one document.

Although data is entered into FileMaker Pro only once, the information can be viewed in many ways.
